I was actually relatively close to there today. I have a plague of little ants interested in the hive. I had to pick up an industrial size jar of cinnamon to dissuade them from the hive although I’m not convinced of the efficacy. Oh, and I love the pun.

Don’t know about normal ants, but the locals here like dried molasses to repel fire ants. It does stuff to the soil that they want nothing to do with.
